A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (Book Review) 4.5 STARS!

This is book 2 from the A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series.

4.5 out of 5 Stars

Fantasy Romance (Romantasy)

First, I LOVED LOVED LOVED ACOTAR. I was sucked into the story from the beginning and forced myself to put it down to, you know, continue normal life. I really enjoyed the “Beauty and the Beast” retelling and I loved the world that Sarah built, and the characters were so interesting. If you have read ACOTAR, you understand the Tamlin love/hate relationship…and then there is Lucien, who you still can’t convince me otherwise, is a cool guy influenced by the wrong people. He’s also stuck in a political situation…blah blah blah…enough about that.

A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOMAF) continues Feyre’s story after the tramatizing events under the mountain, her wedding to come with Tamlin and, also now, that she must be with Rhysand (Rhys) for one week of the month per their agreement. I was so excited to see what was going to happen next and how Feyre would deal with everything that has happened to her. Also…I need to know more about Rhys and what his motive were/are.

Without giving too much away, alot of things are answered in this book and I was SO HAPPY they were. You get more background and context…you see relationships grow and mature. You still get the cute, steamy and snarkiness that you learn to love from Rhys and has court. One of my favorite things in this book is seeing Feyre’s growth. She has been through alot and now must move forward…so dang interesting!

I wanted to give this five stars but I struggled a bit in this book. There were some slow times that I had to force myself to continue reading. I also had to refrain from skipping ahead to the chapters that I wanted to read -chapters 54 and 55- but I was good and didn’t. So this book is really good, not as face paced and captivating as book one…but still very very good!

  1. I’m over half-done with this book and I really like it. I think I liked ACOTAR a little bit better, but I’m definitely really enjoying this and look forward to continuing with the series.

  2. I concur, book 1 was better than book 2 & 3 (that’s as far as I’ve gotten). The first book was fast-paced and concise – the subsequent books slow down considerably and IMO could be shortened by 150-200 pages.
