The Alpha’s Pen Pal by Allie Carstens (4.5 Book Review) Amazing Werewolf Romance

Werewolf romance, adult romance, childhood friends, one bed, she’s a human/ballerina, groveling, emotional, slow burn, he’s obsessed, “You’re mine!” and touch her and d!e.

Yes! This is exactly what I look for in a werewolf romance. It was emotional, sweet, heart wrenching and so freaking captivating – I couldn’t stop reading it and I wanted it to last forever.

The story starts with what the title implies, pen pals. Wesley, MMC and future alpha, and Haven, FMC human, reluctantly become pen pals in elementary school. This starts a funny and sweet relationship through letters and I loved every moment. It was amazing to see their relationship grow as their character also grew up. Haven is an orphan who was just getting into a routine with a new family that she loved when tragedy hits and her life’s turned upside down yet again. She loses touch with her pen pal, Wesley, who has also become attached and is devastated.

Years later they meet again and I was HERE FOR IT. The chemistry and attraction! FIRE! One of my favorite plots/moments in a werewolf romance is when he’s a wolf, preferably an alpha, and she is a human and has no clue about werewolves. The tension and steam is so delicious in these situations.

I loved Haven’s character who has been through alot. She is strong and she is a talented dancer/ballerina. Wesley knows right away that Haven belongs with him but yet he respects her being a human and tries to take things slow.

Another thing I absolutely loved about this book is how it eases into the paranormal and magic (yes, there is magic and more!) so it doesn’t feel out of this world. It eases the reader into the story while also following in the steps of Haven, a human who knows nothing about the paranormal.

This book took me for a ride. You get a little bit of everything and all of the feelings! So good!
