ARC provided for an honest review through NetGalley.
Release Date: April 5th, 2016
This book is #9 in the series and can be read as a standalone, but it is nice to have the extra background information. I read this book without reading the others.
“She wanted to touch him. There had always been something about being in his arms that made her feel as if she could tackle anything and the world wouldn’t dare get in her way…”
This book was definitely a breath of fresh air to me! It has been a while since I delved into a paranormal/fantasy romance, specifically one with dragons. When I first read the excerpt it sounded intriguing and different…and that it was!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the romance story of Kinsey and Ryder. Hot chemistry! Their characters are well-rounded and intriguing. Their stories, past and future, are detailed and interesting…it’s what hooked me! I could not put this book down when I was reading their chapters. That being said, I found the other story-lines a bit too much and wished for Kinsey and Ryder’s sections to come up faster. I wasn’t savoring the words of the other chapters. I understand that all of the stories were needed to complete the whole book but I seriously would have been happy with more Kinsey and Ryder and less everything else. I am sure it’s partly the “romance reader” in me. I loved hearing about the other “mates” and now I am really looking forward into reading the other books within this series, especially since this was my first!
I did also enjoy the “dragon” element. I found it “believable” and I definitely was not rolling my eyes or making the snarky remarks “Yea, like that could happen…” The author, Donna, sold the theme and magical elements to me and I love that! I felt like I immersed myself into the whole story without any issues!
If you looking for a paranormal/fantasy romance…or even just a romance story. Check this book out…and check out all of the other in the series. I know I am!
