Contemporary Romance/Adult Romance
My Review:
I have a love-hate relationship with Tarryn Fisher’s books. I absolutely LOVE her writing style and perspective but I don’t always connect with her books and characters the way I would really like to.
Tarryn is someone I would easily be friends with. (Hello! Her and Colleen Hoover have the type of friendship we all dream of!) She is smart, witty, fun, honest and a great writer. Her honesty reflects in her books which can make reading them difficult. I hope this makes sense.
I give a lot of kudos to Tarryn. She writes REAL material, whether from her personal experiences or observations. And let’s be REAL about someone being honest and truthful about life and it’s journey…it’s not always fun. Her works are so real and truthful that it can be hard to read. Tarryn chooses to write on these (sometimes) unpleasant human experiences and emotions. With that being said, Tarryn’s writing style and story flow are amazing. Her work is concise and to the point yet still covers many emotions.
Why did I read this book? I kept seeing it everywhere (blogs and such) and it was being marketed as a “Romance”, which it is but it’s a “Tarryn Romance”. I am very glad I gave it a chance! This book gave me so many emotions and some great things to step back and think about. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed this book but it’s not like the typical other romances that I usually read.
This book is different. If you are expecting instant chemistry, instant love and gushy feelings from the very start…I’m not sure this is the book for you. Although there is romance, great chemistry and love, there is also heartbreak and hardships. Overall this is an eye opening read that my fellow bloggers, authors and romance reader’s shouldn’t miss. Be prepared for a deep and emotional story that will make you THINK. Check this one out!
